In this unique collaboration, Louis Vuitton has teamed up with artist Jeff Koons for their newest collection. The ‘Masters’ collection consists of bags and accessories featuring imitations of the world’s most famous paintings. This 51-piece collection is drawn from Koons’ 2015 series titled ‘Gazing Ball’ where artwork was interrupted by a blue glass ball attached to the front of the painting.
Koons has re-created famous paintings on signature Louis Vuitton pieces, inviting viewers to experience old master pieces in a new way. Artwork reproduced for the Louis Vuitton X Jeff Koons collaboration include Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Van Gogh’s Wheat Field with Cypresses, Titian’s Venus and Cupid, The Tiger Hunt by Rubens, and La Gimblette by Fragonard.
The bags feature the Louis Vuitton monogram logo, a new version of the monogram using Jeff Koons’ initials, and the name of the original artist spelled out in gold letters. All pieces come with a tag in the shape of one of Jeff Koons’ best known artworks – the inflatable Rabbit sculpture.
Launching on April 28th, this collection is definitely one you’ll want to get your hands on – after all, who doesn’t love a collaboration that combines the classic artwork of yesterday with the finest luxury brand of today.
